Happy Trails Dr Induction

Happy Trails Dr Induction!

He was actually supposed to work until the end of the month before he takes off for a job elsewhere. However, he insisted on taking his full break even with several patients waiting. Sooooo, to make a long story short - Dr Boss said don't come back.

Guess who got to see his afternoon schedule?

One of the midwives had to leave sick while this was going on.

Guess who got to see her afternoon schedule.

Another doctor had to leave to go do a delivery.

Guess who didn't have to see his schedule thank god!?

So, yes, I had a light schedule with only 4 patients. they added the other two providers' schedules onto mine. I saw (with the help of the student - I would have been majorly sunk without her help) 17 patients in 3 and a half hours - 2 of which were new OB appointments (which are slotted 40 minutes each). Agggghhhhh! But I did good :) And three of Dr Induction's patients have switched to the midwifery service :)

I'm so glad you're writing regularly again, I am trying to do the same.

It's so good to be reading you again!

My hat is off to you. 17 patients in 3 hours. It must have been one of those days where you say, "Having any problem?" and before they answer you say, "The baby's heart beat is good. See you next month" and out the door before they answer. It is the only way to survive that madness. Good fortune like patients wanting to see a midwife are sometimes the reward from days like that.

LP - welcome back!

slh - I can say I actually spent a little time with each patient, but still was speaking very fast and rushing more than I would have liked to. The student was the big lifesaver - she would see a patient and then I would review the chart, talk to the patient for a few minutes then move on.

I haven't read through your blog yet to know who Dr. Induction is, or why he's earned this nickname from you. But it's a scary nickname, and I can't think of a good thing that would end in that nickname...
